Product Returns, Refunds & Australian Consumer Law

Adriatic Furniture will always strive to ensure your satisfaction, however if you are not completely satisfied with your products, please tell us at the earliest opportunity. Please send us an email, [email protected] specifying the following information:

  • Your purchase order number, date of purchase & date you accepted delivery
  • Exactly what you believe the fault maybe
  • When and how you discovered the fault
  • Images of any damage, suspected failure and product identification labels.
  • (Identification labels are located on the underside of most products)

Once we receive your email, our service department will review your claim and respond accordingly.

All Adriatic Furniture products come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law. As a consumer you are entitled to a replacement, refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonable or foreseeable loss or damage. Furthermore, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Should your product be defective, you may choose to make a claim under Australian Consumer Law and or the Adriatic Furniture Limited Warranty against defects. The guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law are in addition to any warranty against defects you are given.

We are not required to provide a refund or replacement if you change your mind.

But you can choose a refund or exchange if an item has a MAJOR problem.

This is when the item:

  • Has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had not known about it
  • Is unsafe
  • Is significantly different from the sample or description
  • Doesn’t do what it said it would, and what you asked for and can’t be easily fixed

Alternatively, you can choose to keep the item and we will compensate for any drop in value.

If the problem is, NOT MAJOR, we will repair the item in a reasonable time. If it is not repaired in a reasonable time, you can choose a refund or replacement.

Proof of purchase is required, e.g. receipt or POS contract, so please keep this handy.

Australian Statutory Consumer Guarantees

The Australian Consumer Law applies to the following Consumer Guarantees to all goods you purchase:

  • The goods will be of acceptable quality
  • The goods will be fit for a particular purpose
  • The goods will match their description
  • The goods will match the sample or demonstration model
  • Any expressed warranties provided by Adriatic Furniture are satisfied
  • You have title to the goods
  • You have undisturbed possession of the goods
  • There are no undisclosed securities on the goods
  • Spare parts and repair facilities will be available for a reasonable time after purchase.

Major Failure: there is a “major failure” to comply with a consumer guarantee when:

  • You would not have purchased the product if you had known about the problem
  • The product is significantly different from the description, sample or demonstration model
  • The product is substantially unfit for its normal purpose and cannot easily be made fit within a reasonable time
  • The product is substantially unfit for the purpose you told the supplier about, and cannot easily be made fit within a reasonable time
  • The product is unsafe.
  • If there is a “major failure” of your Adriatic Furniture product, you can choose to:
  • Return the goods to us and ask for a refund
  • Return the goods to us and ask for a replacement
  • Keep the goods and ask us for compensation for the difference in value from either the manufacturer or supplier

Minor Failure: Something that is not a “major failure”, and can be fixed within a reasonable period of time.

  • If your product is subject to a “minor failure”, Adriatic Furniture can choose to:
  • Repair the product at no cost to you
  • Replace the product at no cost to you
  • Refund you.

If Adriatic Furniture fails to give you a free repair within a reasonable time or cannot fix your problem, you can:

  • Get it done elsewhere and pass on the cost to Adriatic Furniture
  • Ask for a replacement
  • Ask for a refund
  • Recover compensation for the drop in value below the price you paid

Consumer Responsibility for returning Products to Adriatic Furniture

You, the consumer are responsible for returning the goods at your expense. We will attempt to minimize all logistics costs associated with the return and or redelivery of your products.

If the cost to return, remove or transport the goods will be significant to you, then Adriatic Furniture must arrange for the goods to be collected from you within a reasonable time.

Exceptions to Guarantees:

  • Consumer guarantees do not apply if you:
  • Have received what you asked for but simply change your mind
  • Found it cheaper somewhere else
  • Decided you did not like the purchase or had no use for it
  • Misused the product in any way that caused the problem
  • Knew of, or were made aware of the faults before you bought the product.


No order which has been accepted by Adriatic Furniture can be cancelled without the prior written approval of Adriatic Furniture Management.

Should you wish to cancel your order a request must be made in writing outlining your reason for a cancellation request.

A minimum cancellation fee amounting up to 33% of the purchase price may apply at Adriatic Furniture’s discretion. This fee would cover expenses relating to loss of value, administration and inventory costs and other associated or unforeseen costs.
